Cagliari
Cagliari, Sardinia’s capital, overlooks the Gulf of Angels in the south of the island. The Castello district rises above the centre, with towers, ramparts and views across rooftops and the port. The streets of Marina, markets and squares reveal daily city life, while Poetto provides a long sandy seafront. Behind the beach, the lagoons and salt pans of Molentargius support flamingos and other waterbirds, close to the surrounding urban neighbourhoods.
