Alghero
Alghero stands on Sardinia’s north-western coast and is known for its Catalan heritage and coral craft. Narrow streets and squares in the old town lead to the sea walls, defensive towers and Cathedral of Santa Maria. To the north, the landscape opens onto beaches and the headland of Capo Caccia, while the seafront links the historic centre with newer neighbourhoods. The harbour and walks along the ramparts are among the city’s most recognisable sights.
